Dashiell, the debut album by Andy Oberhausen’s Breadwinners, was created during a tumultuous time in my life. Recorded on a Monday and Friday in January 2017 which coincided with the MLK holiday and Trump’s inauguration, the studio dates were almost cancelled. This was due to my identical twin son’s, Fisher and Dashiell, extended stay in the NICU after being born several months early under stressful circumstances which left both boys plus my wife Stephanie’s health and well being in doubt. In the forefront of my mind at the time was Dashiell whose prospects felt particularly perilous and to whom this album is dedicated. I hope this album captures a moment when life changes unexpectedly and the world you once understood feels in disarray. However, despite the fear, disorientation, anger, and of course, dread, there are also flashes of tenderness, resolve, and hopefulness for an uncertain future.
